Government's responsibility in the Agricultural sector lies primarily within the Ministry of Agriculture.The obligation of the Ministry of Agriculture is to ensure household food security and increased sustainable agricultural productivity through dlversification and enhancement of commercial agricultural activities. The Ministry is also responsible for the development and promotion of appropriate technologies and efficient extension services while ensuring stakeholder participation and sustainable development and management of natural resources in the country.

Veterinary & Livestock Production Services Department

The mandate of the Department of Veterinary and Livestock Services is to prevent the spread of animal diseases and zoonoses, promote animal health and welfare and equip livestock producers with adequate knowledge, skill and technical know-how on the efficient management of all resources that will ensure profitable returns and an efficient and sustainable livestock industry.

Responsible for enhancing improved household economics and livelihoods through promotion of improved nutrition, home management, child care and development, consumer education and income generating activities.

Fisheries Department

The mandate of the fishery section is to ensure sustainable fisheries management and aquaculture development in order to secure national food and nutrition security at both household and national levels.

Land Use Department

Responsible for promoting rational land use and the development of agricultural land and water resources, particularly on Swazi Nation Land (SNL).The department is composed of the following sections: Land Development, Land Use Planning and Irrigation Development.
