The Ministry was established in September 2008 following a realignment of portfolios by the Government of Swaziland. This is a new Ministry and its portfolio responsibilities were drawn from a number of Ministries, such as Labour Administration and Industrial Relations, from the now defunct Ministry of Enterprise and Employment, the National Human Resources Planning and Development, from the Ministry of Public Service, Scholarships Administration from the Ministry of Education.
To create, maintain and improve an environment for labour protection, employment, Social protection and Social Dialogue in order for foster economic growth, and social Justice.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
To facilitate improved safety and health at the workplace.
To increase the effectiveness and comprehensiveness of inspections.
Develop legislative and policy framework
To avail an educated and skilled nation through localization
To strengthen safety nets; protection and empowerment of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups through Social Security
Improve service delivery through decentralization of service.
